I Desire
October 10th, 2008
sorry Allah for my transgressions
everyday more confessions
my own fault I confess it
Paradise surrounded by tests
Hell surrounded by desire
ya Allah open up my chest
please save me from the Fire
Your Paradise I desire
the Prophets -peace be upon them- I admire
show me the way with Your Light
know I wanna do right
help me win this fight
help me help others
we’re all sisters and brothers
need to learn to love one another
You’re the only One;
there is no other
to You I turn
sorry for everything
know you guided me to siratelmustaqheem
away from the path of the mushirkeen
united with fellow muslimeen
ya Allah please keep me on your deen
I desire to be of Your mumineen

This was good. Usually they are corny, but this was deep.

usually what’s corny? what is this “they” that you’re referring to?

Poems is the “they”; that which I find corny.
I despise poetry, hated poetry class because it sounded more like brain teasers than beautiful diction and syntax.
And then “Islamic” music (Yusuf Islam, 786) I find the most corny, especially in the English language.
But your poetry is good. Simple, succinct, sincere, and flows well. I like it. Kudos.

i see.. and thanks. i’ve heard of 786, but i can’t comment on them cos i haven’t listened to them. i’ve heard yusuf and i don’t think his music is corny. most of his songs he wrote himself and they come from within his soul. i think most people see that. but, you’re entitled to your opinion. :) it is sad how some muslim’s who make music seem to have got caught up in the music scene too much.. and seem to be a little off track. i hear muslim’s cussing in on song and praising allah in another. it’s sad. :’( ..
